NewPace Technology Expands Workforce

by: Nova Scotia Business Inc. | Dec 15th, 2009

A new Nova Scotia-based technology company is taking its growth to the next level.

Bedford-based NewPace Technology Development Inc. recently secured a contract with Neustar Inc., a significant worldwide telecommunications services company headquartered in Sterling, Va.

NewPace plans to create up to 50 new jobs over the next five years to meet the demands of the new contract. The province, through Nova Scotia Business Inc. (NSBI), is supporting the growth with a five-year payroll rebate to a maximum of $840,000.

“We’re investing in the future of this home-grown company,” said Economic and Rural Development Minister Percy Paris. “NewPace’s growth will create the kind of job opportunities that will attract and retain talented Nova Scotians while growing this important sector and strengthening the economy.”

NewPace Technology Development Inc. provides software solutions to telecommunications companies and internet service providers.

“As a Nova Scotian, I am excited to be able to create jobs in my own community, and appreciative of the support of fellow Nova Scotians represented through this NSBI rebate,” said Brent Newsome, president and CEO of NewPace.

NewPace is recruiting people with technology skills and experience, including software application development, project management and quality assurance.

“Technology and talent continue to be the driving force behind today’s knowledge economy,” said Stephen Lund, president and CEO, NSBI. “NewPace’s expansion, and its focus on research and development, is a great example of how the IT sector is maturing in Nova Scotia.”

NewPace Technology Development was founded in 2009 to provide software development, systems operations and applications support for mobile Internet applications.

Nova Scotia Business Inc. is Nova Scotia’s private-sector-led business development agency. NSBI is the investment-attraction arm of the province and helps businesses in Nova Scotia meet growth potential through advisory services, trade development, financing and venture capital.
