Consumer reports is warning internet shoppers to be on the lookout for nasty cyber criminals, who may try to scam you. Something you don’t want to happen, especially during the holiday season.
Consumer Reports is warning all internet users to be sceptical of emails asking for charity money. Giving to charities is great, but don’t let scammers play your heart strings. Those peas you get in your inbox, are most likely scams. Give directly to the source.
Do not give out financial information, passwords, or other personal data This includes emails that appear to be from PayPal, eBay, the Better Businesses Bureau, and the IRS. They will not ask for this type of information over the internet.
Be careful what you click on when searching for popular trends or products. Security software company F-Secure provided a list of search terms it predicts will be popular with cybercriminals this season: The video game “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2″; Michael Jackson; the Flip UltraHD camcorder; the iPod; the Wii; and Chuck My Talking Truck from Playskool.
Be wary of “member rewards clubs.” This could be a scam.
