Problem with the Woodland Caribou is they need grazing areas. Years ago there were no people to put out forest fires leaving large grazing areas years after the fires. Now fires are stopped just about immediatly leaving Caribou without much food especially during winter.

I was a pretty good biologist and forest design consultant for a long time and believe people do not understand the woodland caribou problem nor a workable solution- we all too often want to put our faith in faulty science, weak thinking, and populistic dogma while the poor species takes another hit- also if you expect government to lead the way here you better give your head a shake. The short- and long-term approach to this species management may be less difficult ecologically and economically that you think.

The tail is wagging the dog.
The people of Alberta surely didnt vote for office bearers who would willfully support the wholesale destruction of the natural environment for short term gain.It is a great pity we dont have real leaders with vision and enough gumption to ensure that the right thing is done.

Please let us not go down in history as the generation that consumed everything it could and what it couldn't consume it threw away. What an awful legacy to be remembered by.

Why do we destroy the World and ourselves along with it. Caribou decline is just another example of our self destruction.

Intact boreal forest, managed for the protection of woodland caribou is essential for maintaining viable numbers. Does Alberta really mean to do this, or is it just more of the same old talk?
